Students build on the artistic learning experiences of the elementary program. Through self-reflection, including dialogue, reading, and writing, students analyze each component of their arts education as well as their own personal growth. Students continue to build their art knowledge and skills, making artistic connections across their core content curriculum. Students study career options in the arts and identify skills required for those careers.

Instruction is designed to enable students to perform and create music, respond to music, and integrate music study into other subject areas. Activities and experiences in music are designed to develop students’ appreciation of music as an art form, to build the foundation for music literacy, and to understand music as it relates to history, culture, and the community.

Keyboarding class is just as essential now as it was decades ago.  Students are used to typing on phones on tiny keyboards.  When you are only able to use your thumbs to type, it limits your speed.  Typing on an iPad limits how much of your writing you can see at once, which is frustrating and encourages shorter responses.  Knowing your way around a keyboard improves writing quality and builds writing stamina.  When typing becomes automatic, the brain has more energy for idea generation, organization, and editing. Knowing how to use a keyboard correctly is also a professional skill!

The personal finance course teaches students how to effectively manage their finances, make sound decisions, and become financially responsible.  Additionally, the economics section teaches the impact of the price of consumer goods and helps them to better understand the role of government in the economy. The section on saving money gives students the knowledge and skills needed to become informed consumers when selecting savings and loans companies, giving them the understanding to begin saving as early as possible.

Through a story-based narrative and interactive exercises, students learn to make real-life decisions about their personal finances, as well as how to achieve important goals around saving money, education and career planning, and budgeting.

Students refine complex combinations of movement in selected sports and activities. Students apply more advanced strategies in physical activities and try new sports and lifetime physical activities. Students learn about different cultures and how they relate to the physical activities and dances from those countries. Students continue to expand their knowledge of rules and strategies, sportsmanship, and cooperative skills as well as fitness concepts and the benefits of health-related fitness. Ongoing assessment includes both written and performance-based skill evaluations.

Does your student love to build, experiment, and explore? In our STEM class, they’ll design cool projects, run real labs, solve mysteries, and tackle engineering challenges. Learning modules include robotics, Lego engineering, artificial intelligence/coding, and stop-motion animation. STEM is perfect for curious minds who want to create, innovate, and have fun while learning!

The Writing Center at Inspire Academy gives middle school students the opportunity to grow as writers and leaders by serving as tutors for younger students. Through one-on-one support, tutors help elementary learners build confidence in reading and writing while strengthening their own skills in drafting, revising, and giving constructive feedback.

Students also engage with the wider writing community by collaborating with peers, visiting other writing centers, and participating in contests or publication opportunities. The Writing Center creates a supportive community where students of all ages learn together and discover the joy and power of strong communication.
